Talentspotter referral campaign 


We won’t pretend the only thing our clients wanted was a humble Refer-a-Friend poster. We’ve worked with Home Retail Group long enough and closely enough for this to be a forward-looking team effort. Together, we identified the potential to make this a high-profile campaign. Done right, it wouldn’t just raise the quantity and quality of staff referrals, it would also get employees feeling good about the vital role they could play in targeting, attracting and recruiting new colleagues.

‘Talentspotter’ was born, across both Argos and Homebase, featuring a striking target graphic that reflected the identity of both brands, as well as that of the Group. If this target embodied the search for new talent, the supporting line ‘Great people are worth great rewards’ made it plain how much the employees’ input was valued. The campaign spanned online and offline materials, including the intranet, html emails, posters and giveaways such as mugs and key rings.

HRG identified a 73% increase in referrals in the first three months alone. As a mark of a well-thought-through solution, they also scooped ‘Best Employee Referral Strategy’ at the In-House Recruitment awards.
